Mud Islands, Port Phillip Bay, Victoria
A visit to these islands lifts the spirit, even though the highest point of land is barely a few metres above sea level.
The weather seems consistently perfect. This could be because I have only been there in late summer and early autumn, and if conditions are unsuitable, the boat we take doesn't go. I imagine Mud Islands would be quite cold in winter.
The BirdLife visits I have attended are made after the breeding season to avoid disturbing breeding birds.
