Lower Glenelg National Park and surrounds, south-west Victoria
Lower Glenelg National Park (LGNP) is near the border with South Australia. The town of Dartmoor is to the north of the park and Nelson, close to where the Glenelg River enters the sea, is to the south.
The photos on this page were taken during the Bird Observation and Conservation (BOCA) camp held at Dartmoor between Christmas 2011 and New Year 2012. On January 1, 2012, BOCA joined with Birds Australia to become BirdLife Australia, so this was effectively the last BOCA camp and the first BL camp.

Dartmoor is renowned for the skillfully-crafted wood carvings that line the main street. The snails find them most attractive, too.

Superb Fairy-wren in LGNP. This bird was obviously very used to people. I rounded a bend and was almost on top of it, yet it went on foraging. Nearby were the loud calls of a very well hidden Bristlebird. It stayed out of sight. Three pairs of Gang-gangs flew in, calling, and settled on branches overhead.
