Anglesea area, approximately 100 km south-west of Melbourne, Victoria

On this page are images taken in Anglesea township and river area, Anglesea Heath, and Point Addis.
Anglesea Heath is an area of about 70 square km to the north of the town.
Point Addis is located approximately 7 km to the ENE along the coast.
This area is well worth visiting during Spring for the spectactular wildflowers as well as for the birds and other wildlife.
The beautiful views are there to be seen all year.

The above photo shows Anglesea and beach cliffs from the direction of Point Addis.

September 2013

I visited Anglesea and surrounds on a couple of days in September, 2013. The first day was spent checking out the area prior to a visit by the BirdLife Melbourne Photo Group. The second day was in the company of other group members. On that day we recorded a total of 65 different bird species and also marvelled at the great variety of wildflowers.

Above and left are four different species of orchid.
I think they are as follows:

Diuris orientis, above left

Pterostylus melagramma, above

Arachnorchis venusta, above right

Glossodia major, left

To the right is a Sundew, I think it is Drosera peltata.

I am happy to be corrected if my identifications are wrong. Please let me know via the contact page.
